Music City NCAA Tournament – Vanderbilt Home Tournament

On March 12th – 14th some of the top ranked Women’s College bowling teams will be coming to Smyrna Bowling Center to participate in the Vanderbilt Women’s Home Bowling tournament – the Music City Classic. This years tournament will have 15 of the top ranked women’s college teams in attendance. Among the teams will be Nebraska,  last years NCAA champion; and 2nd place team Central Missouri. Vanderbilt’s Women’s team will have 3 seniors that this will be their final tournament in their black and gold uniform. Vanderbilt is currently ranked number 2 in the nation behind University of Maryland -Eastern Shore. Vanderbilt is off this weekend bowling in the ECAC tournament in New Jersey and will return Tuesday after a trip to the new ESPNW broadcast area that should be launched at a future date. Vanderbilt’s Women’s program is looking to bring home another title this weekend and also looking to win the Music City Classic for the second time. The women that bowl for their respective schools are great bowlers in their own right and it is a amazing to be able to watch them compete each weekend that I travel and help coach John Williamson with the Vanderbilt women’s bowling team.  The NCAA Women’s competitions are competed on the NCAA Sport bowling patterns that are not anything like your typical house patterns that you compete on. These patterns demand the ability to repeat shots over and over again with accuracy and precision timing and release. It would be a treat for any young lady that is aspiring to bowl in college to attend and see the quality of the Women’s programs that will be here from across the Nation. Vanderbilt has 3 seniors that will be honored at the end of the tournament for their contributions to the growth of the program and their accomplishments. The young ladies that will be honored are Josie Earnest, Ashley Belden, and Brittany Garcia.  Each young lady has helped change the face of Vanderbilt Women’s Bowling by being a positive leader and a great bowler.

Friday’s bowling will start at 11:00 am and end sometime around 5:00 or 6:00p.m.  Saturday will start after the Youth bowling leagues have finished (approx. 12:00pm) and the lanes have been re-oiled with the NCAA pattern. Sunday the tournament will finish and a champion crowned. Good Luck to all the teams and I hope that you have a safe trip to the tournament.
