Championship Trophy

Championship Trophy

Coach Precilla James has her team ready to defend its 2009 Rutherford County Middle School title.  Rock Springs Middle joins Smyrna Middle, Christiana Middle and Siegel Middle in competitions this year.  Last year Rock Springs narrowly defeated Siegel in a match that came down to the last frame of the last game.
Enthusiasm is growing for middle school bowling in our area and this year teams from Nashville are competing in their own district.  The Rutherford County and Davidson County champions could meet to decide a Mid-State Champion.  The hope is that Middle School Bowling will grow like its High School Bowling counterpart.  High School Bowling is currently active throughout the state.

Music City NCAA Tournament – Vanderbilt Home Tournament

Filed under: Uncategorized, • Tournaments — Travis @ 1:20 pm

On March 12th – 14th some of the top ranked Women’s College bowling teams will be coming to Smyrna Bowling Center to participate in the Vanderbilt Women’s Home Bowling tournament – the Music City Classic. This years tournament will have 15 of the top ranked women’s college teams in attendance. Among the teams will be Nebraska,  last years NCAA champion; and 2nd place team Central Missouri. Vanderbilt’s Women’s team will have 3 seniors that this will be their final tournament in their black and gold uniform. Vanderbilt is currently ranked number 2 in the nation behind University of Maryland -Eastern Shore. Vanderbilt is off this weekend bowling in the ECAC tournament in New Jersey and will return Tuesday after a trip to the new ESPNW broadcast area that should be launched at a future date. Vanderbilt’s Women’s program is looking to bring home another title this weekend and also looking to win the Music City Classic for the second time. The women that bowl for their respective schools are great bowlers in their own right and it is a amazing to be able to watch them compete each weekend that I travel and help coach John Williamson with the Vanderbilt women’s bowling team.  The NCAA Women’s competitions are competed on the NCAA Sport bowling patterns that are not anything like your typical house patterns that you compete on. These patterns demand the ability to repeat shots over and over again with accuracy and precision timing and release. It would be a treat for any young lady that is aspiring to bowl in college to attend and see the quality of the Women’s programs that will be here from across the Nation. Vanderbilt has 3 seniors that will be honored at the end of the tournament for their contributions to the growth of the program and their accomplishments. The young ladies that will be honored are Josie Earnest, Ashley Belden, and Brittany Garcia.  Each young lady has helped change the face of Vanderbilt Women’s Bowling by being a positive leader and a great bowler.

Friday’s bowling will start at 11:00 am and end sometime around 5:00 or 6:00p.m.  Saturday will start after the Youth bowling leagues have finished (approx. 12:00pm) and the lanes have been re-oiled with the NCAA pattern. Sunday the tournament will finish and a champion crowned. Good Luck to all the teams and I hope that you have a safe trip to the tournament.

TSSAA Tournament Concludes with Record Setting Performances

Filed under: Uncategorized, • Tournaments — Kelly @ 11:10 am

The 2010 TSSAA Bowling Championships concluded with high scores and record setting performances. The event, which is annually held at Smyrna Bowling Center, had been interrupted mid way through the team event when a section of the roof collapsed. After a delay of 2 weeks the bowlers returned to finish the tournament and the competition was as fierce as ever.
In Division II, perennial girls powerhouses St. Agnes and St. Benedict faced each other in the finals with St. Agnes emerging with a 21-6 victory. In the boys Division II finals Donelson Christian Academy was defeated by McCallie 20- 7.
In Division I play it was all Wilson Central as the Wildcats surged to take both boy’s and girl’s division titles. This marks the first time in event history that the same team has won both titles in the same year. In the girl’s division the lady wildcats defeated defending champion Hardin County 18-9 in a rematch of last years championship. In the boy’s division, Wilson Central defeated Soddy Daisy by a score of 21.5 – 5.5 .

Youth Bowling Leagues Will Resume February 20th

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kelly @ 9:01 am

The Smyrna Bowling Center USBC Youth Leagues will resume on Saturday February 20th. The leagues will have modified starting times as a result of our reduced number of lanes. The Junior/Senior League will begin at its normal time of 9 a.m. while the Pee Wee/ Bantam Leagues will now bowl at 11:15 a.m.  We realize many of our youth bowlers are bowling in the City Tournament at Hermitage Lanes that day.  If so, those bowlers may pre-bowl or post-bowl their league scores.  Also, Pepsi Tournament entries will be due no later than Monday, February 22nd. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact the center at 355-0501.
