Labossiere And Doyle Capture Southern Gold Titles

Smyrna, TN (9/6/10) – Amanda Labossiere loves competitive bowling.  This was never more evident than at the 2010 Southern Gold Shootout held over Labor Day weekend.  The Arkansas State freshman won the tournament and promptly turned down the scholarship money and Junior Gold National spot.  Labossiere, a Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts native, is prohibited by the NCAA from accepting scholarship money during the school year. Furthermore, she had previously earned a Junior Gold National entry so the spot was passed to her collegiate teammate Rachael Gittings.  For her efforts Labossiere earned the championship plaque, the title Southern Gold Champion and the knowledge that she had defeated some of the nation’s best female bowlers.  Rounding out the top six finalists were Rachael Gittings from Glen Allen, Virginia; Kim Carper from Fort Ripley, Minnesota; Kristin Shinn from West Columbia, South Carolina; Amber Ottilige from Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Ashley Rucker from Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

In the boys division, 12 year old phenom Kamron Doyle avenged his 2nd place finish in 2009 by defeating Chris Gillis in the final match of the tournament. Doyle, a native of Brentwood, Tennessee  made headlines earlier this year when he became the youngest person ever to cash in a PBA event.  Finishing behind Doyle were Chase Smith from Savannah, Tennessee; Chris Gillis from Smyrna, Tennessee; Justin Turner from Nashville, Tennessee; Theo Shipp from Grandview, Missouri; and Justin Miller from Greenville, Tennessee.

The tournament include bowlers from 13 states.  The $3,000 for a 300 bonus was almost captured by Kamron Doyle as he scored a nearly perfect 280 game.  The organizers of the 2010 Southern Gold Shootout would like to thank Bowler’s Advantage Pro Shop for their generous support, as well as all the bowlers and their families for their participation!
